In a Tucson summer, a ceiling fan does real work — it makes a room feel several degrees cooler for a fraction of what the AC costs to run. The catch is that a fan needs a box rated to carry a moving load, and plenty of homes have a light box where a fan is about to go. We check that first, then mount and wire it properly, at a price you approve up front.
Ceiling Fan Installs, Replacements & Light-to-Fan Swaps
Ceiling fan installation is one of the most requested jobs we do in Tucson homes, and it is cheap comfort. A moving fan makes a room feel cooler without touching the thermostat — which matters from May straight through September.
We install new fans, replace worn-out ones, and swap a light fixture for a fan. That last one is the job most people underestimate: a light box will not carry a fan. We fit a fan-rated box, match the downrod to your ceiling height, balance the blades, and wire the switch or remote the way you want it. Bedrooms, great rooms, vaulted ceilings, covered patios — same care either way.
What We Handle
- Ceiling fan installation — including high-ceiling and vaulted-ceiling mounts with the right downrod and support.
- Fan-rated box replacement — a standard light box isn’t built to hold a spinning fan; we swap in a rated box when needed.
- Indoor & outdoor lighting — fixture swaps, recessed lighting, under-cabinet, patio, and landscape lighting.
- Smart switches & dimmers — wired in correctly the first time, including the neutral question that trips up DIY installs.
- New fixture locations — adding a fan or light where there’s no existing wiring or box.
- Outdoor-rated installs — damp- and wet-rated fixtures for patios and ramadas that survive heat and monsoon exposure.

The Part Most People Don’t Expect
The wiring is usually the easy half. The mounting is where fan installs go wrong: a ceiling box designed for a five-pound light fixture is not rated to carry a thirty-pound fan that vibrates for the next decade. If your ceiling currently has a light and you’re putting a fan there, a fan-rated box is part of the job — and it’s worth knowing that before you compare quotes, because a bid that skips it isn’t comparable.
Height is the other variable. Vaulted and two-story ceilings need the right downrod length and a sloped-ceiling adapter, plus the equipment to work safely at that height. It’s a normal job, just not the same job as an eight-foot bedroom ceiling.
Outdoors, the rating matters. A dry-rated fixture on a covered Tucson patio will look fine until the first monsoon blows rain sideways into it. We use damp- or wet-rated equipment as the location calls for.

Pricing, Up Front
Tucson-area ceiling fan installation typically runs about $100–$700 depending on the fixture, the ceiling height, and whether a fan-rated box or new wiring is needed. A straight swap where a fan already hangs is at the low end; a vaulted ceiling with no existing box is at the high end.
General Tucson-market range for context, not an Eagle Electric rate card — we’ll confirm your exact price before any work begins. Multiple fixtures in one visit are usually more economical than separate trips.

Fan & Lighting FAQ
Can you install a fan where there’s no existing wiring?
Often yes. We’ll assess attic or ceiling access and quote it as part of the estimate — access is what determines whether it’s a simple run or a bigger job.
Do outdoor fixtures need anything special?
Yes — damp- or wet-rated fixtures and wiring appropriate to the location, which matters in Tucson for both heat and driven monsoon rain. We handle that as standard.
I have a vaulted ceiling. Is that a problem?
No, it’s common here. It needs the correct downrod length and a sloped-ceiling mount, and the price reflects the extra height and equipment.
Can you install a fan or light I already bought?
Yes. If it’s the wrong size or rating for the location, we’ll tell you before we hang it rather than after.
